How do moms do it? Not even just baseball moms.. like all moms?

Alec and I might not have children yet but man ill tell you, a puppy is hard work. Especially when the puppies dad is somewhere else playing baseball.

I touched on this a bit in my last post about why we got a puppy during season but just in case you didn’t see it, here it is:

Alec began the season and was like you know what i’m gonna take the rest of the season off and train and just be my best self for next season. He said “Let’s get a puppy”, and I mean, whose going to turn down getting a puppy?! So he was driving home from Texas and when he got back into Florida he stopped at a breeder in Gainesville and picked up our new baby, Rodi! So he came home and everything was great. We love her of course and it was nice having both of us take care of her because i’m gone a lot of the day and he was always there but when I came home we would take her out and such and it was the best. So, a week after getting this 9 week old puppy, he gets a job offer up in Long Island with the Long Island Ducks. He felt so horrible leaving and believe me, he had a harder time saying good bye to that puppy than he did to me. So here I am, with this 10 week old puppy, by my self, figuring it out. I mean, I would not trade it for the world but wow, thats stinkin’ hard work.

So fast forward to now, Rodi is 16 weeks old and he is missing the whole puppy stage. She is a Ridgeback so she is going to be big and is growing fast. We FaceTime with Alec every day so he can see her and I send him pictures and videos constantly, but it still is not enough.

So bringing this full circle, I give props to any dog mom or human mom who’s husband travels or plays a sport because it is not easy folks. Not easy on either side. Shout out to the dad’s too because I cant imagine how difficult it is to not see the kids much and have to say goodbye so many times, and the moms get to see the kids like… a lot. Which isn’t bad but we all need help sometimes!

Alec and I both can not wait to have children and yes it will be difficult, but having that, to us, is so worth the traveling and the hard work. We both come from very tight knit families with brothers and sister so it is so important to us, weather its for a dog or for a child, to make that home and family environment so incredibly special.
