I guess the best way to start off my blog is by simply introducing myself. My name is Lindsay I am 25 years old and I am currently still in school at University of South Florida studying advertising and public relations with a minor in nutrition. Although I have lived many different places for a few months at a time, I am and always will be a Florida girl. I have two incredible parents that have been married for 32 years and I have one sister that is currently a neurosurgeon P.A. (what?! Who gets to say that?!).

I’d say life has been pretty good to me so far, and one of the main reasons for that is my fiancé, Alec (cue the sappy love song).

Alec is 27 years old and comes from a very loving and supportive family as well. He is the middle of two brothers which makes him naturally competitive and driven. Alec and I met two years and a half years ago well I was working at a restaurant in Clearwater, FL. In these past 2 1/2 years, we have dated, fell in love, traveled, built a house, got a puppy, and got engaged! Sounds like a pretty standard relationship right? Here’s the kicker..

Alec has been playing baseball since he can remember. He has always has a passion for becoming a professional baseball player. So much so that when someone would ask him, “what’s your plan B if baseball doesn’t work out?” He would respond, “I don’t have one, baseball is it for me”. He got drafted by the Rangers after two years in college and that was the start to his professional career as a baseball player.

Still sounding some-what normal? I’ll give you a brief rundown of what our 2018 year looked like:

January: Began the year with the Orioles

February: Moved to Sarasota for spring training

March: Got designated for assignment (the Orioles put him up for grabs)

April: Got picked up by the Dodgers AAA

April: Moved to Oklahoma City

April (two weeks later): Got designated for assignment

April: Got picked up by the Brewers AAA

April: Moved to Colorado Springs

May-September: Alec was back and forth a few times between AAA and the the bigs

September: He came home and began his first off season as a free agent

October-February: Go to training facility every day and follow a strict diet

Throughout the whole year as well there are games almost every day, road trips about every other week, many emotions, many goodbyes, a lot of pressure, and a lot of wine.

I can truly say that when I met Alec and agreed to travel with him during seasons, I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Never did I think I would be dating / basically a personal assistant to a professional athlete. But you know what? We both wouldn’t have it any other way. We are both so incredibly grateful for the opportunities that this career has presented both of us and we feel so lucky that we get to live this life together.

This post is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to being a baseball family but overall, I can’t wait to be “married to the game”!
